Gay Marriage

A symbolic marriage cake in favor of allowing ...Image via Wikipedia
Recently I was shown an article on a group called The
National Organization for Marriage (NOM) and was quite disgusted with both those in NOM and the Gay and Lesbian Protesters. Having read both sides of the story, I found that both groups are leaving out a lot of information. The article I was given was from the gay and lesbian group Freedom to Marry and had a picture of a sign held up at a rally which cited Old Testament Scripture on how to deal with homosexuality(post below shows a video of the man holding the sign, note he is not affiliated with NOM just supports their cause). The Old testament was very explicit in this. If a man sleep with another man he shall be put to death(Lev 20:13). That, however, was the law of Moses. A principle fulfilled with the advent of the Savior. A fundamental law of Christianity was given in the New Testament by Christ, which states Love thy neighbor(MAT 22:39). A simple and easy to follow law that covers most of every thing these two groups have against one another. I have seen video of both parties misbehaving at these rally's. It irritates me to no end when I see Christian groups using hate to try to fight what they think is a just cause. Don't they know that hate, lies and deceit has only one source, Satan. Please if you are using your religion as your basis for fighting against a cause, do it with truth, love, and peace.

As for the protesters from Freedom To Marry,Be respectful of their beliefs. Thinking that something is a sin is not bigoted. Nor is it homophobia. when I see video of a rally and see some one shouting over a prayer I see it as an awful disrespect to God, and not just those people you disagree with. Please please whatever you do be respectful, and never lie to get a point across. it makes the situation worse.

I feel no need to fight against Gay marriage. I do believe homosexual acts to be a sin (not homosexuality), and something that is not natural and good for society. Having said that though I will NEVER say a hateful thing to a homosexual person, Nor treat them in a manner differently than I would any other person. A phrase that I have been taught all my life is to love the sinner despise the sin. though some might find what I just said to be offensive, I am just being frank on this subject not hateful, let he that is without sin cast the first stone. If i judge someone on their sins then I best stand prepared to be judged on my own. We are all sinners. The way I gauge what is natural and good for society, as I had mentioned before, is to look at the moral question like this: If everyone in the community practiced this what would happen? In respect to homosexuality if everyone in the community was gay the community would die off when no children could be born. Forbidding people to marry based on sexual preference? Claiming that gay marriage somehow destroys families? Why bother. Look at divorce rates among heterosexuals, what could be more devastating to the Family than divorce. If the two persons betrothed in marriage love each other who am I to say they are wrong.

So at last I offer my best suggestion to cure the heartache that has come over this issue. Let the states recognize the marriages, so long as NO LEGISLATION OR JUDGMENT SHALL BE PASSED TO VILIFY OR OTHERWISE CRIMINALIZE A CHURCH FOR NOT PERFORMING A SAME SEX MARRIAGE IN THEIR CHAPEL OR TEMPLE!!!!! leave a moral question to those who preach morality! For a gay couple to get married they have to go to the justice of the peace or a church that supports them. Is that too bad or hard? Again, this has to be accepted on the Federal level that a marriage between ANY two people be recognized in government, but churches have a right to decide whether they perform the marriages within their church and shall not be brought before a court for not conforming to a practice they see as immoral.

Christians, Don't turn away from our brothers and sisters that have a different preference than you. Love them as Christ does and let Him judge who will or will not be saved. We have no right to judge as we are all sinners.
To the homosexual community, Don't turn away from Christianity because of those who know nothing about true christianity.

My View of God and Government

I am a Libertarian Latter-Day Saint. I believe that God gave us our liberties and freedom (referred to in the church as our agency) to do with them what we like. We will have consequences for all our actions, whether they be good or bad. If we were to take away someone's agency, this would be a great sin. In a political sense this falls under our civil liberties and laws governing them. I do feel that some laws give us greater freedom, while others can quickly steal our freedom from us. An example of a law that gives us freedom is obviously the laws that go along the lines of the 10 commandments; do not lie, cheat, steal, murder, and other such criminal law. These are made for our protection, give us the freedom to walk out our front door without fear of those around us. Laws that restrict us and take away our freedom are those arbitrary laws that govern our ability to, well own a gun for instance. We have been given a constitution that specifically grants us a right to KEEP and BEAR arms, yet many states are passing laws that are trying to take that right away. I believe in a smaller government that is there to protect us as citizens and help provide the basic logistical infrastructure for the country to run on. This would include; transportation systems (roads, rail, public transport, airports), a simple and effective welfare program (though I believe most welfare should be in the hands of the private sector, like churches who know their patrons), and other important things like record keeping.

I most commonly refer to myself as a christian. I believe in Christ. The man known a to this world as Jesus of Nazareth came to redeem us from death and sin. He is the son of God. The promised Messiah. This is the basis of Christianity. ALL of my religious commentary will trace back to this. It is what I know to be true. My Testimony of my savior will be found throughout this blog. If this offends you I am sorry this blog is not for you. I will be talking about such sensitive subjects as gay marriage, abortion, drugs and many, many other things that are brought to my attention. I will refer to my beliefs in these subjects. Some will find them quite peculiar, but it will represent what I believe to be true.

Now that I have given you a quick synopses of what to expect in my blog I hope you enjoy reading. I will update this as often as I can. Mostly when a story is brought to my attention that I think needs my commentary. THIS IS AN EDITORIAL BLOG. expect my opinion. That is all I will be giving.

Thank you and enjoy.
